Teći (teh-chi), means "to flow" in Croatian, and this body of work is both a nod to my Croatian heritage (drawing inspiration from contemporary Croatian artists of the 60s like Julije Knifer) and my love of vintage textile patterns from the 60s & 70s.
This project began at a time when I was struggling to feel flow in my life, feeling stuck in the grind of each day with little room to breathe. Putting paint to paper or canvas or these found objects would allow me to find my own natural state of flow - where everything else would melt away and enable me to become completely present in my own body in the exact moment I was experiencing.
Each colour combination has been inspired by the world around me - by visiting AQWA with my kids, by walking through my neighbourhood, by sunrises & sunsets, by people I love.
